Should I paint my house before selling?

The short answer to this question is YES. There are a few things that almost always help sell homes faster, paint is definitely one of the most cost effective and quickest ways to improve the viewing experience for all the prospective buyers. You have only one shot to make a good impression and a home freshly painted and with the right colors will captivate buyers leaving an impression of a well maintained home.

There are many advantages from painting a home before selling. To name a few, your home will look clean and well maintained giving the feeling of move-in ready to home buyers. Freshly painted homes give your senses the smell of new, almost like the smell from of a new car. Your listing pictures will stand out. It’ll make your online pictures look better, which will ultimately attract more buyers.

Selecting the right colors to paint the home before selling is also important, if your budget is tight using a neutral color for the entire home will be the best option. Cool grays,  whites & soft creams are colors to consider. Make sure the color your choose goes with your carpet, flooring and cabinets. If your floors or cabinets are dark colors you might want to select lighter colors for your walls to create contrasts and enlarge spaces.

White tones are the hardest to pick from. When selecting a white tone put the color deck next to a dark color, that way you can see the contrast.

Pure White and Snowbound will create a sense of an bright a clean spa.

Depending on the conditions of your home you should also consider painting the exterior. If the paint is chipping or pealing or if you see any signs of wood cracking, bubbling or flaking, it is time to paint.
